Blenko Collectors Society 2006 Convention Agenda

Thursday August 10, 2006

8:00 a.m. Blenko Company Visitor Center opens.

10:00 a.m. – Noon Stained Glass Class

Call Blenko at 304-743-9081 and ask for Don Lemley in stained glass. Twenty Five participants will create their own 12” k 8” panel with Blenko Dalle deVerre. Materials fee is $75 and will be paid directly to Blenko. Panels will be available Friday morning for pick-up at the Visitor Center. Be prepared! Come with an image in your mind or a drawing of what you would like to make and wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

Noon – 1:00 p.m. Lunch a list of local restaurants can be found on the map available in the Visitor Center at the BCS membership table.

1:00 – 2:00 Blenko Factory Tour

Please meet upstairs in the Visitor Center

2:30 Blenko Collector Society meeting

Location will be in the Designers Studio. Please go to the Visitor Center and directions will be given from there. This is for paid BCS members only.

Your evening is free. Enjoy the malls, restaurants and more. Maps to some of these places will be available in the Visitor Center.

8:00 Blenko Company Visitor Center opens

8:00 AM to 9:30AM-Pilgrim meets Blenko at the Blenko Factory

 Retired Pilgrim and Blenko Master Glass workers will demonstrate the skills required in making true American art glass. These retired craftsman will be in a shop near the visitors' gallery. BCS members and the public are invited to watch the master glass artisans at work creating limited edition pieces that will be available for purchase Saturday afternoon through a drawing.

9:00 4-H Building opens (4-H Building on the Fairgrounds across from the Blenko Factory)

10:00 – Noon Presentations (4-H Building on the Fairgrounds across from the Blenko Factory)

10:05 – 10:20 Douglas Chapman former Pilgrim Production Manager on Cameo, Cranberry, Crackle, Specialty lines, and so much more!

10:25 – 10:40 Drema Wood on Blenko Colors and Id. Just because a seller says it is Blenko does not make it so.

10:45 – 11:10 Tim Alonzo from the Blenko Four Website on how to organize and keep your Blenko inventory within a push of a key.

11:15 – 11:55 Dawn Weber Photography Workshop - make your glass look as good in pictures as it does in person

Noon – 1:00 Lunch will be offered for sale by the 4-H Club

1:15 – 1:30 Gene Weekley on The natural Gas prices and how Blenko is coping with them.

1:35 – 1: 50 Blenko employee Randy Rider The tools used to make glass and the molds used to make optic.

1:55 – 2:20 Richard Blenko with the history of the company and the Blenko family

2:30 – Meg Childers and Clay tiles made with your cullet. This class is limited to 15 participants please email BlenkoCollectors@aol.com to join. Everyone is welcome to stay and watch this class.

Your evening is free. Enjoy the malls, restaurants and more. Maps to some of these places will be available in the Visitor Center and at the membership table in the 4_H Building. Located on the Fairgrounds there will be a motocross starting at 7: p.m. and practice beginning at 6:00 p.m admission charge is $8 per person.

3:15 Visitor Center
